Allergy Symptoms


Allergy symptoms are caused for some people due to an over active immune system. These immune systems are considered overactive as they respond and react to certain substances or allergens.


An allergen is anything can cause an allergy to occur. It might be a natural substance which may or may not otherwise be harmless and lead to no health issues whatsoever in other individuals.


This kind of exaggerated response of the immune system to harmless substances like dust, pollens etc is referred to as allergies.



However some other allergy symptoms can be very serious, for example when someone has a food allergy such as a peanut allergy that causes Anaphylaxis, a swelling of their throat or tongue that makes it difficult for them to breathe.


The most common allergens are the dust particles and pollens in the air. Other substances like chemicals, foods and even some medicines can cause severe allergies in certain people.


The typical parts of body which are prone to allergies are the nose, eyes, stomach, lungs and skin. These are the areas that show the most common symptoms that are associated with allergies.

Health Problems Caused Due to Allergens

? Allergic Rhinitis: This is a very common form of allergy that occurs seasonally due to pollens in the air.


This might be prevalent all year long in some people and in such cases is caused by dust particles and other motes present inside the house.


- Common symptoms of allergic rhinitis: This allergy causes inflammation of the mucus membrane in the nose. This can lead to several uncomfortable health issues like a runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, itching in the ears and nose. All of these are common symptoms associated with this kind of allergy.


? Asthma: This is a very severe kind of allergy that can lead to acute discomfort. Asthma causes an inflammation in air passages of the lungs. This leads to the constriction of these passages thereby making it extremely difficult to breathe.


- Common symptoms of asthma: An uncomfortably tight chest that can lead to coughing or wheezing, Shortness of breath and a laborious breathing are all symptoms of asthma.


? Eye allergies: These are caused due to the inflammation of the tissues lining the eyeballs and the inner parts of the eyelids. Such allergies are extremely common and might be caused by dust or other foreign particles entering the eye.


- Common symptoms of eye allergies: Eye allergies can lead to extremely itchy, red and swollen eyes. These symptoms can be acutely uncomfortable.


However it is important to avoid rubbing of your eyes at all cost. Intense rubbing of eyes can lead to several major eye problems including a damaged retina. Consult a doctor to remedy the discomfort of eye allergies at the earliest.


? Hives: These are angry red welts that cause extreme itching of skin. Hives are a common allergic symptom and can be caused due to ingesting certain medicines or other food substances.


? Allergic shock: This is the most virulent form of allergy that can even prove fatal if not treated on time. Such allergies can be caused due to the bodies response to certain food substances or medicines.


- Common symptoms of allergic shock: Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, hives, shortness of breath, swelling in the throat are all common symptoms of allergic shock and should be addressed immediately for the complete recovery of the patient to be possible.
