Weird Symptoms of Menopause

If you think you are having weird symptoms of menopause, chances are you could be right.

Menopause is one of the cycles in life that often makes women feel strange and out of sorts.

There are several times over the course of their lives that women experience hormone fluctuations and menopause is one of them.

Menopause is a cycle during which hormone levels shift and change tremendously, causing several symptoms such as increase in facial hair. While this is expected, there are also many others that you may not be aware of.

The thing to remember is that there are actually two phases to the menopausal cycle. First is the peri-menopause phase, which can go on for about 2 to 10 during which most symptoms will start to appear and then is the menopause phase itself.

The symptoms which occur during peri-menopause are the ones that draw attention to the beginning of the cycle.

? Brown Spotting: Before and after your last menstrual cycle, you will begin to have spotting rather than complete periods. During this time the color of the spotting material will change from red to brown and there is nothing to worry about when this happens.

? Misspoken Words and Memory Problems: This symptom was only truly defined in the 90s and is related to the loss of estrogen in the body. This loss of estrogen causes women to have an increased risk of saying the wrong word when they speak or have trouble trying to remember names which should otherwise be familiar.

? Vaginal Atrophy and Dryness: As the level of estrogen in the body decreases, you will also find that there will be less natural fluid produced in the vagina and the walls will begin to thin. There?s nothing to worry about; drinking plenty of fluids, using personal lubrication, maintaining your kegel exercises and having sex, will help maintain the integrity, strength and moisture of the vagina. These practices will also reduce the risk of incontinence occurring.

? Severe Bloating: Bloating is a regular part of the menstrual cycle for many women; however during menopause the results can be more extreme.

? Irregular Heartbeat: This symptom often leads to at least one trip to the hospital. Irregular heartbeat will of course make a woman nervous because it can feel as if she?s having a heart attack. When a standard ECG is done however there are no signs of a heart attack despite the alarming sensation.

? Inflammation of the Joints: A lot of pain can be involved with this symptom. Sore and aching joints can be mistaken for arthritis and cause swelling at the knee and knuckles. Misdiagnosis is common and often women are being treated for osteoporosis before the true cause of the inflammation is discovered.

All of these symptoms have been linked to menopause and are not at all critical on their own. However, if you are concerned, a visit to the doctor is always warranted to verify the cause.

Menopause is a difficult cycle that is accompanied by tremendous changes and upheavals but it shouldn?t have to be a source of fear for your health or well-being.
